skeeter1 That is the funniest thing I have seen for a while. I have finally stopped laughing.......that guy in the background is trying to keep a straight face too. If it was me I would have been struggling. In fact you probably would have had to pick me up off the floor.

France to Fine Women Wearing Full-Faced Islamic Veils
by leavingwt infrance to fine women who don full-face islamic veils in publicthe french government decided wednesday to impose a $185 fine on women who wear a full-face islamic veil in public, pushing ahead with a controversial ban despite signs of tension between france's muslims and the christian-tradition majority.
president nicolas sarkozy said his government was forwarding the legislation to parliament because it had a "moral responsibility" to uphold traditional european values in the face of an increasingly visible muslim population, estimated at more than 5 million, the largest in western europe.
he called the course chosen by his government "demanding" but "just," and he insisted that the law was not intended to stigmatize the country's muslims.

Hello Everyone! Heres my story!
by OneDayillBeFree ini'm new here, and although i have been a lurker for several months now, its nice to finally dive in and join you all.
i hope that i find some friends as thats what i'm really looking for, i've seen enough proof that theres real love outside of this religious prison that i've biult for myself over the years, but i would like to feel it firsthand.
it's been a little hard to post anything since it's not easy being around in websites like these when you're still in and theres other jw's around sticking their noses everywhere, but now that i've found the time, i would like to share a bit about my story.... this is an email i sent paul grundy, (creator of jwfacts.com) and it basically sums up the story of my life... so i thought it would be good if you all had a read as well.

Hi OneDayillBeFree
Welcome to the place where others understand and care. I was not born into a Witness family but studied for many years and have just recently stopped. That alone has messed me up so it really made me sad reading your story (which I did read to the end). I have a young son, and your story really hit home with me. I am so glad he isn't going to have to deal with what you are going through.
You seem to be a caring, thoughtful person and I am sure that once you start to participate more fully in the outside world you will have no problems making new friends. My only advice would be to keep an open mind and try not to judge. I know this is a symptom of being a JW as I had started to become like this myself.
Education is a great place to start. Not only will it open up possibilities for you, it will give you opportunities to make friends. Or learn a trade if that is what you prefer. Either way, its a good place to find non witness friends.
Personally, I think it is important to make sure you have some sort of safety net before you take such a huge step as leaving. Especially since you already know what you will be faced with. I think it is important that you have at least a couple of friends you can confide in, and an income.
Anyway, I'm sure you will know when you can't take anymore, and you will act. This will happen when you are ready and not before. Have faith in yourself and God and know that you are able to make decisions for yourself and right or wrong the world won't end, because everything is a learning experience. I have made more than my fair share of mistakes over the years, and I am glad to say none of them killed me. In fact, what doesn't kill me just makes me stronger.
So, I hope to see a bit more of you here. And I look forward to hearing more of your thoughts.
Your new friend Tessa

punkofnice I'm sure Mrs Punk will be ok one day. Just remember, you were probably once as weird as that. And you recovered!!! I would recommend the way my partner deal with my crazyness.....be gentle, don't contradict.
Just slip in the odd questioning every now and then. My partner just wouldn't let go of something about the 144,000 seeming right...and some other things. He never challenged. He just questioned gently.
This made me want to look so I could explain it to him better because I just thought he didn't really get it......Well, he got it all right. And so did I eventually.....But it had to be me that realised it by what I found because I honestly wanted to know the truth. I wouldn't be surprised if a similar process didn't happen to you. You wanted to understand better so questioned...then what you started to see didn't add up.

Not for me, went last year and the year before. But this year I finally got what they were up to and like punk I didn't want to particpate in the reject Christ ritual.
Punk Not her fault, she is all wound up and as all that pent up energy. Shes wanting to excercise her faith. Maybe a walk around the house a few times will help, knock on the bedroom door a few times. Hell, knock on the cupboard doors if it helps. Let her get it out of her system.

please deconstruct John 3:16 - our memorial scripture
by Curtains inour memorial talk focused on john 3.16 - the exercise aspect of exercising faith.
the speaker began by saying 'this evening whilst we are all gathered together many are exercising in the park - they are working hard - jogging and running.
shouldn't we work that hard when we are exercising our faith'.

And if they want to refer to work and faith.....
JOHN 6:28 & 29
Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"
Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent forthLazy Lazy Lazy.......where is the pounding the pavements???? Where is the sweat??.....we know your not working if we don't see you sweat.

The New World Translation does, but most don't

God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life.King James Bible

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.Weymouth New Testament
For so greatly did God love the world that He gave His only Son, that every one who trusts in Him may not perish but may have the Life of Ages.World English Bible
For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.Young's Literal Translation
for God did so love the world, that His Son -- the only begotten -- He gave, that every one who is believing in him may not perish, but may have life age-during.Obviously all these other Bible translations are just being Lazy!!!!!
Its just a play on words and mind games to get them out there pounding the streets and knocking on doors. I bet subconsciously they all feel motivated to go spread the news after that.

Ex-inlaws are trying to JW indoctrinate my daughter....need some advice
by James_Slash incould do with some help please.. i found out last week that my daughter is being taught how to pray before meals "dear jehovah" and taken to meetings by her mothers family (that are jw's).. myself and her mother are divorced - we live over 100 miles apart.
neither of us are jws anymore (i haven't been for 5 years - not d/f or d/a) and i am contemplating my disassociation letter as we speak.
her family played a part in separating me from my daughter during our divorce in 2007 - they even wrote lies to support her.

Hi James_ I hear your concern and I understand. It is very difficult being a parent and being unable to do anything about things you are not happy about.
Are you able to discuss your concerns with your ex? Maybe she isn't happy about it either. At least you wouldn't be on your own dealing with this, you may not be together but you are both still her parents.
If not, then the only thing I can say is to have as much contact and interaction with your daughter that you can so that you can give her a ballanced view of belief and it is not one sided. She is only four, but you are her dad. And a dad is more important than a grandparent to a child. No matter how wonderful the grandparents may be to her.
Hope that helps a little, I'm sure others here will be able to give you better advise. I just wanted to let you know I feel for you.

Am I mistaken or are these stupid mistakes on watchtower.org?
by WontLeave inam i the only one who notices a couple of problems with this?.
first of all, passover is on 15 nisan, not 14.. the sheep should prove to be sound, a male, a year old, for you.
you may pick from the young rams or from the goats.

exwhyzee Hi there, you can also find this in the What does the Bble Really Teach? book. Page 206 The Lord's Evening Meal. 3rd paragraph.
"Jesus celebrated the passover with his apostles, Dismissed Judas Iscariot, and then instituted the Lord's Evening Meal. This meal replaced the Jewish Passover and therefore should be observed only once a year."
